Last Minute Holiday Help for Procrastinators
March 28, 2022
I admit this blog is a little late in the season. But Christmas does something weird to me. I am usually the most methodical person in the known universe. Really. I organize my closets seasonally and they are arranged by color with all matching hangers. Then the first Chia Pet & Clapper commercials play on TV and I turn into a procrastinating mess. I don’t know what happens, but the next thing I know it’s a week before Christmas and I haven’t even bought cards yet!
For those of us who didn’t do our shopping for Christmas last January (can you believe some people actually do that?!), here’s what to do:
BUY COFFEE FOR GIFTS
How’s that for a shameless plug? Coffee really is the perfect gift. Almost everyone loves coffee. It comes in regular and decaf. It’s never the wrong size or color. It is more personal than a gift card. Did you know that 8 billion dollars-worth of gift cards go unused in the US every year? You might as well burn your cash and mail out the ashes!
FACE THE FACT THAT YOUR GIFT ISN’T GOING TO ARRIVE BY CHRISTMAS
Unless you’re willing to spend 3 times on shipping than the gift for overnight post, it is best to consider it a warm wish for the New Year! That’s ok. I think this is actually better, because it makes your present stand out. It’s not bunched in under the tree with horrendous sweaters and 10 pound fruit cakes!
GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
The holidays are fun and full of activities, but it is easy to get overwhelmed with all there is to do. Take time out for yourself. It’s far better to be well rested when you have to deal with the in-laws than an overly tired, over achieving cranky-pants. Let some stuff go and get some ZZZs.
I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year! Thanks for making New Mexico Piñon Coffee a part of you day. If you’d like to make it a part of someone else’s day, call me at 505-298-1964! Just ask for Aleta!
